Did I pick this location for the outdoor scenery or the beer?

Marylynn and I chose the White Mountain area of New Hampshire because of how beautiful it is and how we like the great outdoors. Fishing skiing, hiking, and kayaking are all great things to do. Little did I know I chose a beer heaven. Three breweries within 20 minutes of the house. There are many more great breweries throughout the whole state of New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont, all very close. Most places that sell beer, which is everywhere, sell all the local beer. We could have easily chosen this place for the beer alone.

Well, when I was in New Jersey, I could fish for trout pretty much all year round. Here in New Hampshire, to my surprise, the last day of trout fishing in the rivers is October 15th. My boss heard me say this and gave me a half day off so I could wet a line.

I fished two local streams, the East branch of the Saco River and the Ellis River, both to no avail. It was certainly nice to get out and feel the cool stream around my legs. I will certainly do some more exploring come springtime.

The New Job

The original plan when we moved to New Hampshire was for me to become an outdoor / fishing guide. Well of course like everything else this year covid has got in the way.

A friend of mine and former coworker from my days at the Millburn Police Department offered me a job in the loss prevention department of the Omni Mount Washington Resort. I start today.

New Hampshire, our new home and adventure! “Live Free or Die.”

The new adventure begins. We have moved to New Hampshire. This has been our plan for quite a while, but COVID accelerated the plan. When more and more of our summer vacation plans or canceled by travel restrictions and such, we decided to cancel. We called the real estate agent to give us an idea of what we needed to do to sell our house in New Jersey. Probably 6 to 12 months earlier than we had originally planned. Lo and behold our house sold in 36 hours.

Now to find a place to live in a dream location. The White Mountains of New Hampshire. With what began as a panic search for a new home or rental. Luck had it that we found a great place to rent for now, in Intervale New Hampshire.

Magically Bullicious is Magically Delicious!

I have been in a rut lately when it comes to tasting new beer. I have been usually been picking up a six-pack of an old stand by to enjoy while unwinding from a day’s work. I picked this up on a whim to enjoy after some yard work. Bolero Snort Magically Bullicious. I might have grabbed it because it reminded me of one of my favorite childhood cereals, but this was good! The brewers did not overdo the mix of ingredients. It was a light-colored stout with coffee, cocoa, vanilla, and milk sugar. I would consider it a dessert beer. Something to enjoy in place of a slab of cake. When you want to have one or two after dinner this beer is a good choice.
